CORONA

This advertisement is promoting corona which is an imported type of beer. Corona advertisements are usually revolved around a beach location, to show that the beer is really pleasing. In this ad the main points are the cold beers, beach, and the girl. Notice that the girl in the hammock is in the middle of the two beers which makes her the focus point of the advertisement. She looks like she is relaxing in paradise and if you drink corona then you can join her also in paradise. Every beer advertisement has to have an attractive woman so that it makes the men pay attention to the advertisements. Corona advertisements are known to have girls in bikinis because of the beach scenes, and this one is no exception. The beers in this advertisement look refreshing because of the golden color and they show that the beer is cold by the bottle being wet. The beer jumps out at you as the sun reflects off the shining golden color looking tempting to have one. Then the beach scene makes this advertisement becomes peaceful. This beach looks so perfect because it is clean, simple, blue water, and it’s vacant with nobody around. No worries, no problems, no reality, its just relaxing. If you drink coronas then your life would be a lot easier and relaxing; just like this picture. First of all one of the effects of drinking alcohol is a feeling of escaping reality. Corona is saying that in this picture that you will experience this feeling. I think that the target audience is the people that are having are times in their lives. If someone is stressed at work and feel like crap, looking at this picture make them think that if they have a corona then it will solve all their problems.

Tamales

If you came over for dinner at my house we will be having homemade tamales. It’s a tradition for my family every year to pick a day and make tamales. We try to make around 20 dozen tamales every year. We usually pick a day in December to make them. It is an all day messy process that takes the whole family to complete. The first thing we do is the day before we make the tamales we go to a little Mexican shop and buy the ‘masa’ (the grinded up corn)and the hojas (the husks that warp the tamales). The next day next we mix the masa with lard. Then we spread the masa over the hojas and we also add carne, olives, and chiles. Then we steam cook them and feast know that the hard day of work paid off in taste. We make so many tamales because all our friends love them. So we keep about 4 dozen to ourselves and the rest we give away. Having dinner with my family is would be fun because there is never a dual moment at our dinner table. The people that you would meet would be my mom, brother, grandparents, and my two cousins. My mom and grandma are sweet and they do most of the cooking and cleaning up. My grandpa and cousins always drench their food with tobasco, and once you get a whiff of the smell of tobasco it brings a tear to your eye. My brother and I are the ones that always have something to talk about at the table. My brother, cousins and I always give entertainment everywhere we go. This is my favorite meal because it is tradition and it’s a way to bring the family together. Also knowing that we homemade them makes them taste way better.
